Borough of Croydon BC enjoyed a 42-shot win at Whitstable despite splitting the six rinks. Whitstable 86 Borough of Croydon 128 Brian Reynolds, Chris Twyman, Nelson Hamilton, Bob Avery won 17-15; Phil Gardiner, Ronald Vaz, John French, John Morton won 16-14; Alan Reid, Reg Dowell, Dennis Tritton, Gerry Hender won 20-19; Garth Coates, Trevor Epps, Derek Gann, Brian Gentle lost 19-12; Brian Watson, Brian Batchelor, Nick Newman, Norman Tilley lost 30-14; Ray Mcdonald, Derek Boots, Brian Ball, Don Minnett lost 31-7.

Whitstable won just two rinks in the Forest of Blean League meeting at home to Herne Bay and took 2.5pts after a 15-shot loss. Whitstable 92 Herne Bay 107 Sam Walker, Charles Harding, Thomas Attaway won 21-12; Tony Petts, Gareth Porter, Brian Reynolds won 16-14; Phil Gardiner, Malcolm Scott, Brian Watson drew 18-18; Peter Boeg, Trevor Epps, Derek Newell lost 18-16; Brian Gentle, John New, Garth Coates 23-13; Ray Mcdonald, Chris Twyman, Norman Toby lost 22-8.

Kent Police Bowling Club shared the rink honours three each but overcame Whitstable by 26 shots overall. Whitstable 77 Kent Police 103 Alan Reid, Ron Pring, Rosemary Field won 20-9; Ray Kent ladies are celebratin­g after winning the Johns Trophy for the first time in 13 years. They beat Norfolk 128-114 in the final at Leamington Spa on Saturday. It was the county’s first success since 2004, going one better than last year when they finished runners-up. They beat Gloucester­shire 152100 in the semi-finals. Results: Kent 128 Norfolk 114 (Kent skips): Jane Cogle (Borough Green) lost 13-17, Ann Harrison (Folkestone) lost 19-20, Sian Honnor (Milton Regis) won 29-19, Wendy King (Milton Regis) won 21-15.
