Tweaks working well for Twyman
Ross Twyman produced two consistent rides in the latest round of the Dickies British Supersport series at Thruxton over the weekend.
The Wingham rider finished seventh and sixth and while disppointed not to have made the podium, he was philosophical after another weekend perfecting the set-up aboard the all-new EHA Racing Yamaha R6.
Twyman, who lies seventh in the standings, said: “This weekend at Thruxton started on the right note and in Free Practice 2, I ended up in third place.
“In qualifying, I finished P8 but we had a good set up and in Saturday’s sprint race I had the pace to run at the front but struggled down the back straight and was losing a fair chunk of time. For the feature race, I had good pace to run at the front but didn’t get a great launch off the line and had to make my way through and ended up seventh.
“(It was) not a great weekend for results but I’m happy that we have sorted the new bike and when we get the top end sorted, then I’m sure we will be standing on that box. Massive thanks to the entire EHA Racing team and all of my personal sponsors.”
Littlebourne’s Tom Ward was ninth and 12th and remains in the top 10 on his Aero Legends/ Go Racing Developments Yahama.
He did feel, however, that he could have gone better, particularly in his second outing.
He said: “( It was) not the greatest result today. The bike felt good in the early laps, my time was only 0.4 from the fastest lap but I quickly began to lose traction after raising the rear tyre pressures due to yesterday’s issues.
“It’s frustrating but positive, myself and the bike feel good. Got some work to do for Cadwell in two weeks and I’m more motivated than ever.”
The Cadwell round takes place on August 18-20.
