The 13.1-mile race is one of the most popular in the county and entry fees raise thousands of pounds for the Pilgrims Hospices each summer.

Run over a challengin­g course on country lanes south of the city, the route starts (at 10am) and finishes at Merton Farm before heading out to Petham and Waltham.

Canterbury Harriers AC stole the show at last year’s event as Tom Millard raced home in first position in 1hour 16minutes 21seconds, followed home by clubmate Simon Jones (1:18.02) in second.

Robert Laing, of Kent AC, completed the top three 54 seconds
