Trio winners all the way
John King, Sue Close and Tony Dobson joined forces to win Canterbury BC’S Dickens Trophy – the only one of 16 teams to win all three of their games.
Alan Cornfoot won through in the preliminary round of the National Senior Singles, coming from 11-5 down to level at 17-17 before winning 21-17.
However, he went down 21-11 in the next round.
In the National Pairs, Cornfoot joined Steve Wells to take on the side from Nottinghamshire and despite a comeback from 10 shots down, they missed out on the final end with a measure going against them as they lost 21-20.
Canterbury’s men won by 20 shots against Minster. Canterbury ladies lost two of the three rinks against Kearsney but returned a draw. Faversham ladies defeated Boughton by 19 shots. The previous day, visiting Deal won by 13 shots at Whitstable after winning four of the six rinks.
