Shakespeare on tour in aid of homeless
A touring production across east Kent of Shakespeare’s The Tempest will raise money for Catching Lives which helps the homeless in Canterbury.
It is being staged by community interest company Phoebus Fire and there are six shows including two in Canterbury, one in Herne Bay and one in Faversham
Project leader at Catching Lives Graeme Solly said: “We were delighted when Phoebus Fire approached us with the idea.
“We will also have staff and volunteers from Catching Lives at the performances to answer any questions from the audience about the work we do in supporting local rough sleepers and vulnerably housed people.
“We have seen the hard work that all the performers have been putting in to this production, as they have been using our day centre in the evenings for rehearsals, so we are confident it will be an amazing show.
“The cast are very committed to their roles, including Oliver Dawson who is getting his ear pierced for his role as Calaban.”
The Canterbury shows are at 8pm on September 19 at the Marlowe Studio and 7.30pm on September 30 at St Mary Bredin church.
The performance in Faversham is at 7.30pm on September 16 at the St Mary of Charity church and the one in Herne Bay, at the Central bandstand at 2.30pm on September 24.
Tickets cost £12 except for the Herne Bay show for which donations will be invited.
