Westbrook edge final contest

Herne Bay

The Bernard Annand finals were held at Herne Bay BC.

In the semi-finals of the Trophy, Westbrook beat Cheriton and Thanet beat Folkestone.

Westbrook won a closely contested final against Thanet 31-29.

In the Shield semi-finals, Herne Bay beat Whitstable and Lenham beat Ramsgate. Bay beat Lenham in the final 45-32.

Bay shared the triples in their East Kent Mixed Triples League match at Birchington with Bay picking up the two extra points by winning overall by four shots. Birchington 112 Herne Bay 116 Mary Watson, Paul Evans, Brian Gisby won 23-17; Val Miller, Joyce Whitlock, Brian Dennis lost 23-16; Edie Nicholls, Stuart Emert, Tony Bishop lost 25-20; Lyn Phillips, Ray Chipperfield, Bill Robb won 20-12; Dawn Harris, Bob Baldwin, Jim Watson won 25-13; Colin Hadlow, Ronnie Phillips, Sara Trotter lost 22-12.

A nine-wood hot shot on the 14th end by Jeanette Saunders, Richie Callanan and Tony Ackland steered Bay to an 11-shot victory at Duke of Kent Court in Mottingham.
