Causes of musicians’ deaths still unknown
Post-mortem tests on three musicians who died within five days of each of other at the same house in Wincheap have failed to uncover how they died.
Police have been investigating the deaths at Tudor Road of James Truscott on August 24 and both Maximum Martin and Joshua Lambert-price on August 29.
They say tests have so far proved inconclusive, but the deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Truscott, 25, Mr LambertPrice, 22, and Mr Martin, 35, were all familiar faces on Canterbury’s music scene, where they performed in venues as well as busking on the streets.
On Saturday, a memorial service for Mr Martin was held at the Westgate Hall and attended by more than 300 people.
Diana Madjar, whose late husband Jean-philippe busked on the city’s streets, went with her son Jules, who had been one of Mr Martin’s friends.
She said: “Max was very close to our family. He was at our house all the time and I was a kind of adopted mother to him because he didn’t have one.
“It was a beautiful memorial – the place was absolutely packed. There were speeches and video and music. It was just brilliant.”
The funeral of former Geoffrey Chaucer School pupil Mr Truscott, who enjoyed playing the ukelele, took place at Barham Crematorium on Tuesday and was followed by a wake at the Coach and Horses pub in Harbledown. One of his friends described it as one of the “most beautiful services I’ve ever seen”.
Mr Lambert-price’s funeral is due to take place next week.
