First lady Deborah sets personal best

Canterbury Harrier Deborah Parris was first Lady Vet 45 with a PB of 45.25 at the Faversham 10k on Sunday.

Stephanie Bancroft gained a PB in 51.10 and she was followed by Krista Hennessey (53.46) and Leisa Foad (55.48).

The race was won by Quin Austin, with Invicta’s Martin Kelk runner-up.

Gravesend RR’S Annabel Sterns was the ladies’ winner, followed by Kerstin Sara Eastland in second place.

Canterbury Harriers Jenny Benson raced to a new PB and third lady, as well as breaking the club record in 19.03, at the Chase the Sun QE Olympic Park 5k.

Dave Bowden came third in the Deal Tri Duathlon and at the Whitstable Surf n Turf, Simon Jones was first, followed by Yiannis Christodou­lou in second. Priscilla Walkington was second lady.

Invicta athlete Douglas Noel produced some outstandin­g PBS in the English Schools Multi Events Championsh­ips in Boston, Lincolnshi­re.

The octahlete ran the hurdles, 400m and 1,500m faster than he had ever done and threw the discus and javelin further than he has First accross the line in the Faversham 10k – Quin Austin achieved in a multi-event.

He also high jumped to more points than any other Invicta athlete in an octathlon and his 4,816 total points means he achieved the national standard for the event.

He is now ranked seventh in the country.

He now moves up to the under-20 age group and onto the decathlon for next season.

Also competing for Kent and Invicta, Isabelle Harding had a PB in the hurdles and victory in the high jump.

She finished 17th out of 45 athletes as a first year under-15, with 2,788 points.
