BAY OVERTURN EARLY TWO-GOAL DEFICIT TO SECURE IMPRESSIVE AWAY VICTORY IN SUSSEX Bostik South round-up

-

Herne Bay came from two goals down to win 4-2 at Hastings on Tuesday night.

John Embery and Jermaine Darlington’s side conceded twice in the opening 17 minutes, Davide Rodari netting both goals for the home side.

Crucially, the visitors pulled one back just before half-time when Alexander Mulrooney- Skinner ran on to Jake Embery’s pass and finished well.

Embery headed Bay level from a Mulrooney-skinner cross three minutes after the restart and it was 3-2 when Josh Wisson scored with a header from Tom Carlton’s corner.

Bay sealed the win 10 minutes from time when Mulrooney-skinner’s cross from the right was swept home by Embery.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Faversham exited the Velocity Trophy after losing BOSTIK SOUTH

Goals from Johnson and Charlie Webster put Hythe in front after the break before Emmanuel Barnett brought the Lilywhites level 13 minutes from time.

However, the Cannons booked their place in the next round courtesy of late goals from Jerson dos Santos, Jerald Aboagye and Mitchell Chapman.

KENT RELIANCE SENIOR CUP Second Round Results: Tuesday: 5-2 win at Horsham. The visitors were dominant early on and when Horsham lost the ball just outside their penalty area, Nassim Dukali punished with a low drive into the corner.

Horsham were level three minutes before half-time, however, when Lewis Hyde got the final touch to Rob O’toole’s cross-shot.

Bradley Schafer restored Bay’s lead less than a minute into the second half with a strike into the top corner from 30 yards.

Embery made it 3-1 from close range and Junior Aikhionbare tapped in Herne Bay’s fourth soon after to put the result beyond doubt.

Horsham pulled a goal back through Toby House but the last word went to the visitors courtesy of Carlton’s composed Sittingbourne 2 (Dover won 4-1 on penalties) KENT RELIANCE SENIOR TROPHY

However, it was a different story for Faversham as they were beaten 4-0 by Wealdstone, of National League South.

Liam King saw an early chance go begging before Simon Overland produced a good save to deny Ricky Wellard at the other end.

The home side broke the deadlock through Daniel Green, who ran onto a through-ball and rolled his shot into the bottom corner.

Dan Carrington was making his 100th appearance for Faversham but the 21-year-old conceded a penalty late in the first half and Green converted.

Wealdstone made it 3-0 with a volley from Matthew Whichelow and Dan Fitchett completed the scoring with a header 20 minutes from time. Bill Manklow Inter-regional Challenge Cup first round: Faversham Strike Force bounced back from a twogoal deficit to get their Kent County League, Premier Division campaign back on track with a 4-2 win over Otford United. Following a summer of rebuilding, both on and off the pitch, which precipitated a run of five defeats in six, Strike Force went two goals down at Sittingbourne Community College on Saturday. Buoyed by new signings and players returning from injury, though, they staged a second-half fightback during which they scored four unanswered goals. One of the team’s many youngsters, Tom Barton, claimed two goals – his second a fine strike from the edge of the 18-yard box. Tom Axford and Ali Adam scored the others. Manager Gary Axford said: “The team are starting to settle now with several new signings and injured players coming back in. “We have a cup game on Saturday (Kent Intermediate Shield game against Ide Hill), so we now hope to carry this good form into that match.” Town 12 Herne Bay Res 1, Rolvenden 3 Hildenborough Ath 0.
