The Investec Women’s League Premier Division game started well for Canterbury with good pressure and excellent forward play down the right-hand side through Lucy Hyams.
However, despite plenty of attacking play, EG profited from a lucky break to open the scoring after 16 minutes through Zoe Burrell.
Canterbury continued to play well but struggled to get the ball past a solid EG defence.
The second half continued in much the same way with both sides applying pressure.

Canterbury forced a couple of late short corners but both went just wide denying them a consolation.
Canterbury stay bottom and are away to Leicester on Saturday.
All the significant action came in the final minutes as Canterbury 2nds edged Loughtonians 1sts 1-0 away in the EWL Premier Division.
Canterbury made the trip to Essex with the bare XI and came under pressure from the start but excellent defending, especially from player-of-the match Ailsa Naylor, kept them in the game.
Canterbury continued to work hard producing some good passages of play which was rewarded, four minutes from time when Harriet Williams struck with a reversestick screamer.

Jenny Preston’s goalbound short corner was helped over the line to give Canterbury a half-time lead and further strikers from Robyn Thompson and Tilly Tillings sealed the points.
The player-of-the-match award was shared between Thompson, Preston and Natalie Goldring.
Josephine Patterson scored twice, including a late winner, as the 3As won 4-3 away to Edenbridge 1sts in Kent Division 2.
