WINNER FIELD IN LINE FOR ANOTHER CUT TO HER HANDICAP

The winner of the ladies’ October Stableford at Canterbury was Maxine Field who scored 38 points and is in line for yet another cut to her handicap which currently stands at 22.

The competitio­n also saw the award of the ‘KCLGA’ (Kent County Ladies Golf Associatio­n) trophy which was given to the club a year ago.

Field’s nearest rival was Jacqui Mount (h12) who scored 36 points when playing for the trophy the pre- vious weekend.

Full results for October Stableford, Division 1: Andra Barney (h18) 33, 2 Val Binns (h10) 33, 3 Kim Atkinson (h20) 33; 4 Margaret Francis (h14) 33.

Division 2, 1 Maxine Field (h22) 38, 2 Diane Florence (h21) 35; 3 Lorraine Townsend (h21) 33, 4 Diane Plommer (h26) 33.

The ladies’ nine-hole competitio­n was won by Margaret Elderson with 37 points and in second place was Kathleen Taylor with 31.

On a balmy October day, 10 pairs of ladies took to the course to compete in the Daily Mail Foursomes.

Past lady captains, Alison Kingston and Cath Smith, paired up and played off a combined 50% handicap of 12.

They scored 40 points, well ahead of Val Binns and Jacqui Mount and Lyn Lee and Nicola Hart, who both scored 36 points.

Kingston and Smith now go forward to the next round which will be match play against another club in the South East.
