Canterbury GC professional Richard Wallis finished third in the PGA Play-offs at Walton Heath GC.

Wallis recorded a three-round total of nine-under-par 207 to finish eight shots behind the winner, Robert Coles (Maylands Golf and Country Club).

Wallis, who booked his place in the Play-offs by winning the PGA South region Order of Merit title for the fifth time this year, won £1,825 for his efforts at Walton Heath.

A hole- in- one on the sixth by Helen Foad provided the highlight when Whitstable and Sesalter GC’S ladies played one of their favourite competitions, a waltz.

Played in teams of three, the competition sees one score count on the first hole, two on the second, three on the third and so on.

The field battled through the bitter cold on the front nine and then enjoyed thawing out on the back nine.

The winning trio were Shirley Rosser, Sally Lawson and Judy Butcher, with 75 points. Their back nine total of 44 gave them the win on countback from Foad, Maz Garlinge and Vilma Dunning.

The October medal was won by Penny Perkins whose net 69 made her a convincing winner.

Second in Division 1 on countback was Louise Tucker who pipped Mia Waddingham, third on countback, after they had both scored 75.

Jean Hudson headed Division 2 with a net 74, which put her one clear of Joyce Jaynes and two in front of Sally Lawson. A nine-hole Stableford was won by Betty Washby with 14 points, on countback from Madge Harris.
