Herne Bay 2nds bounced back from the previous week’s disappoint­ment with a 9-0 trouncing of University of Kent 2nds in Kent Open Premier A on Saturday. Following their 2-1 loss at Old Beccehamia­n, the team put in a much better performanc­e. They were 5-0 up at half-time and scored four more in the second half. Bay’s goals were scored by Lee Gardiner (3), Aaron White (2), Paul Mcvey (2), Harry Pout and Tom White, with Pout taking the man-of-the-match honours. Second-placed Bay visit leaders Marden Russets 2nds on Saturday. Herne Bay 3rds gradually adjusted to the bouncy pitch at Sevenoaks to defeat the Acorns 2-0. A deflected shot from James Nash put the visitors ahead in the first half. The second half was even, with both sides having shots on goal. Adam Foster was able to convert one of these to ensure an away win. Andy Marsh was man-of-thematch. In Kent Open Division 3, Bay 4ths were beaten 2-1 at Blackheath & Eltham – their goal coming from Alfie Forbes.Herne Bay ladies’ 1sts won 2-1 at home to Gillingham Anchorians in Kent Women’s Division 1. Bay, who were trying out a new formation, opened the scoring through Jemma Edmunds within minutes of the start. Anchorians managed to find an equaliser but Bay achieved the win with a goal from Sophy Forwood. Amy Mason took the player-of-thematch accolade The ladies’s 2nds triumphed 5-0 at Maidstone 3rds in Kent Division 3. Lucy Barton made a run down the right wing and beat the keeper for the opener. Barton increased the lead and Libby Fielder made it 3-0 before half-time. Further goals in the second half came from Nicola Louise and Amber Potter. Louise Holmes was player of the match. Herne Bay 3rds lost 2-0 to Maidstone 4ths in Kent Division 4.
