Walking football

Herne Bay’s walking football squad made an encouraging debut in TRA National League South over the weekend. The Bay squad travelled to Goals Dagenham to play their opening three matches, the first of which against Norwich City ended in a 2-1 defeat after David Gilham had put Bay ahead. Bay also led against Watford, Steve Hewitt being their scorer but late in the game the Hertfordshire side equalised with a goal from a free-kick which eluded Efrem Ebbli. Bay’s third opponents were Chemico, a composite side from Essex. Again Hewitt opened the scoring before Dave Pooley added a second. Gilham’s second goal of the day made the game safe before Chemico managed a late consolation. The next round is at Dagenham on December 3.
