Pan panto a record-breaker

-

Peter Pan has broken audience records to become the most popular pantomime ever at the Marlowe Theatre.

The show has so far sold 95,875 tickets making it the biggest in the south east and an accolade from the British Theatre Guide as “one of the best in the country”.

The previous record was for Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs in 2015/16 which was seen by 95,685 people.

But the total tickets sales for Peter Pan is expected to rise even further as there are still some seats available in the new year until the show ends on January 14.

Pantomime producer Paul Hendy said: “For many years the Marlowe has had a reputation for staging one of the best pantomimes in the country and we’re absolutely thrilled that not only is Peter Pan getting rave reviews but it’s also been the biggest-ever selling pantomime in Canterbury – and the south east.”

Acting theatre director Paula Gillespie said the record-breaking figure was an incredible achievement.

She said: “What makes it even more amazing is knowing every one of our customers who have seen it so far have enjoyed a fabulous and highly-entertaining show and left the building abso- lutely buzzing.

“Thanks also to the top-rate cast, producers Evolution Productions and everyone at the Marlowe who are working so incredibly hard.”
