Pilgrims Juniors secured a win in the Canterbury and District Netball League after a confident display in the final two quarters against Wahl.

After a tight first quarter, neither could edge ahead at the end of the second quarter.

Pilgrims then dominated the third quarter adding 19 goals, leaving Wahl trailing behind by 12.

Wahl picked it up in the final quarter but Pilgrims didn’t let up and finished 48-33 winners with Wahl claiming a single point for their final goal difference.

Mia Murray took the Star Player title for Pilgrims.

Canterbury Back To’s also went for broke in the third quarter of their game against Bluebirds, helping them to secure the win.

The Division 2 teams were on par in the first half of the match, both making neat passes down the court.

By half-time, Back To’s had edged ahead but it was the third quarter which saw them really extend their lead.

With a defensive player down, Bluebirds just couldn’t make up the goal difference and went down 34-16.

J&L conceded giving Pilgrims an automatic five-point win while UKC did the same against Canterbury Academy Whites in Division 2.

Canterbury top First Division with 36 points but second-placed Pilgrims only trail by one point with a game in hand.

Third spot is held by Synergy, with Blackjacks trailing by five points but with a game in hand.

In Division 2, GG Fitness retain top spot, with Bluebirds and Alpha fighting it out for second. The two teams are set to play each other on Sunday.
