Six-hit Sun through in Kent cup

Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League

-

Rising Sun eased into the fifth round of the Kent Premier Cup with a 6-0 win over Gravesend & Dartford North Kent League side The Albion.

The tie, played at Cherry Orchard, began with Albion constantly forced back by good wing play from Sam Hallett and Kenny Sanders.

Sun’s breakthrough came in the 14th minute with Stacy Davis heading home Hallett’s cross.

Joe Kennett’s header doubled the lead before Simon Brown’s shot from 10 yards, and another header, this time from Sanders, gave Riser a 4-0 half-time lead.

Albion showed a greater sense of purpose in the second half and hit a post on 49 minutes.

This spurred Riser to step up a gear and, with Adam Woolcott and Brown taking control of midfield, it wasn’t long before Davis added a fifth.

The final goal came in the 74th minute when Sanders ended a solo run with a shot that gave the Albion keeper no chance.
