Suggs to entertain with some surprising stories

-

It seems our appetite for tales from the life of the frontman of one of Britain’s best-loved bands shows little sign of being sated just yet.

Suggs – real name Graham Mcpherson – has spent a lifetime in the spotlight and the final few tickets for a special evening reflecting on his past are on sale for his show at the Marlowe Theatre on Saturday, February 10. No stranger to Canterbury - he and his wife have friends and family in Whitstable – he fronted a headline performance by Madness when the band played an open air show at the Canterbury cricket ground in 2015 before a sell-out audience. Now he will be taking to the stage for a rather calmer night for Suggs: What a King Cnut – the follow-up to his critically acclaimed one man show My Life Story. A film of My Life Story, recently received its premiere in Camden. In it, he took a stroll down memory lane sparked by his desire to discover more about the father he never really knew. If the first show was about how he got there, this follow up tour is about the surprises that awaited him when he did. From suffering vertigo on the roof of Buckingham Palace, to nearly blowing the closing ceremony of the Olympics and watching his underpants fall to earth on David Bowie’s driveway, he has a host of tales to tell and entertain the crowd. He said: “Constantly expecting that inevitable tap on the shoulder to hear ‘what are you doing here, sunshine?’, how have I got this far? “In this business you can be washed up at any minute. How have I managed to get away with it for so long?” Recommended for those aged 16 and above, the last few tickets are on sale now.
