Millard sets standard with fine top 10 finish

N Invicta East Kent athletes turned out in force for the South of England Cross Country Championships at Stanmer Park, Brighton, where conditions proved challenging.
Alexandra Millard achieved the highest finish, showing excellent stamina over the undulating 5k home to cross the line 10th in the under-17 women’s race.
Like Millard, clubmate Roseanna Temple has shown good form during the Kent League campaign and she was happy with her 35th placing in a strong field of 115.
Th e club had five representatives in the under-17 boys’ race with Matthew Stonier making a brilliant start which saw him as part of the leading group for most of the first lap.
Cameron Macrae was similarly placed and the pair maintained strong positions, finishing 11th and 16th respectively.
Charlie Brisley, returning from injury, finished an excellent 24th while James Futcher was 161st and fellow Southern first-timer Matthew Boucher eight places further back.
Anna Weston strode out with Rhian Dawes 163rd and strongly in the under-20 women’s Rebecca Jackson 240th. race, coming home 13th while Adam Mckenna was 256th and Sarah Hall ran consistently for Steve Barber 687th in the men’s 33rd. race.

Both races involved large fields of runners over gruelling 8k and 15k courses.
Gabija Rasiukevicte was first Invicta female home, in 88th,
