Oyster men picked up just two points from their Kent League game away to Prince Arthur, Gillingham, losing 141-89 overall. Their two winning rinks were Norman Bourner, David Newell, Eddie Swan and Brian Gambrill (21-17), and Gordon Bourn, Mervyn Gulvin, Bernard Woodhams and John Day (24-9). Gordon Hayes, Ray Chipperfield, Bernard Woodhams and John Day recorded the Oyster’s biggest win 22-7. The ladies’ Kent League game at home to Dartford Stone Lodge was also close, with the Oyster edging home 120-115 to claim seven points. Pauline Hogston, Jean Rose, Joy Burton and Sue Swan won by 10 shots (25-15) and Sheila Bartholomew, Diana Whybrow, Sue Close, Hilary Avis by seven (26-19). A mixed friendly against the Metropolitan Police produced a 108-99 win, with Anne Tanson, Peter Andrews, Diana Whybrow and Graham Lucas (32-4) leading the way. Richard Whybrow, Dot Morris and Phil ScottMartin won 20-16 while Maurice Odell, E Davies, Peter Boeg and Yvonne Mann pipped their opponents 14-12. Joy Moran, Peter Mann, Janet Pamphilon and Brian Gentle drew 19-19.
