Oyster men picked up just two points from their Kent League game away to Prince Arthur, Gillingham, losing 141-89 overall. Their two winning rinks were Norman Bourner, David Newell, Eddie Swan and Brian Gambrill (21-17), and Gordon Bourn, Mervyn Gulvin, Bernard Woodhams and John Day (24-9). Rink details Keith Dennett, Brian Maxted, Karl Davies, David Ferguson lost 21-13; Mark Crowhurst, Paul Drane, Bernard Marsh, Brian Watson lost 17-12; Maurice Odell, Les Bartholome­w, Peter Boeg, Brian Gentle lost 29-7; Peter Hogston, David Appleton, Phil Scott-martin, Ian Burton lost 38-12; Norman Bourner, David Newell, Eddie Swan, Brian Gambrill won 21-17; Gordon Bourn, Mervyn Gulvin, Bernard Woodhams, John Day won 24-9 At home to Folkestone, the outcome was much closer but despite winning three rinks and drawing another, the Oyster still finished on the wrong end of the scoreline, 112-110. Gordon Hayes, Ray Chipperfie­ld, Bernard Woodhams and John Day recorded the Oyster’s biggest win 22-7. The ladies’ Kent League game at home to Dartford Stone Lodge was also close, with the Oyster edging home 120-115 to claim seven points. Pauline Hogston, Jean Rose, Joy Burton and Sue Swan won by 10 shots (25-15) and Sheila Bartholome­w, Diana Whybrow, Sue Close, Hilary Avis by seven (26-19). Rink details Doreen Masters, Janet Pamphilon, Barbara Mcgillicud­dy, Jan Allen won 23-18; Sylvia Sweeting, Anita Harding, Madelene Mcconomy, Jacqueline Harvey lost 19-15; Ann Moon, Alison Mcdonald, Jan Whitbread, Eunice Holder lost 18-17; Beverley Schulz, Christiann­e de Weduwe, Penny Perkins, Janet Drewitt lost 26-14; Sheila Bartholome­w, Diana Whybrow, Sue Close, Hilary Avis won 26-19; Pauline Hogston, Jean Rose, Joy Burton, Sue Swan won 25-15. A mixed friendly against the Metropolit­an Police produced a 108-99 win, with Anne Tanson, Peter Andrews, Diana Whybrow and Graham Lucas (32-4) leading the way. Richard Whybrow, Dot Morris and Phil ScottMarti­n won 20-16 while Maurice Odell, E Davies, Peter Boeg and Yvonne Mann pipped their opponents 14-12. Joy Moran, Peter Mann, Janet Pamphilon and Brian Gentle drew 19-19.
