Townsend has been selected in the 20-strong squad who will travel to Rosario for the five-match test series against Argentina. The 28-year-old Olympic gold medallist has been suffering with several injury problems since the Rio games. She has made 47 appearances for Great Britain and could surpass the half-century mark during the tour. Townsend also has a further 77 caps for England. The matches are due to be played in Rosario between February 10-17. Alex Danson is due to make her 100th appearance for GB during the series after being named in the squad, which also features eight debutants. Head coach Danny Kerry said he has named a largely inexperienced team to give “a developmental opportunity of playing a worldleading team.”
