YOUTH HOCKEY: PANTHERS IMPRESS

Canterbury under-8 Lions were unbeaten when they played in a tournament at Gore Court.

They drew their first three matches 0-0 against Cliftonvil­le, Folkestone 1 and 2. The Lions then had a strong finish to the tournament with a 3-0 win over Gore Court and a 2-0 victory against Burnt Ash.

The Jaguars had wins against Marden and Sevenoaks B and drew with their A teams. They lost to Canterbury Panthers in the tournament held at Sevenoaks.

The Panthers won all of their matches scoring 14 goals and only conceding once.

The Tigers enjoyed convincing wins against Burnt Ash Panthers (2-0) and Burnt Ash Leopards (6-0) in their tournament.

They then beat Gore Court 2-0 and then drew two matches against Blackheath, 0-0 and then 1-1.

The under-12 girls Crusaders had a win against Gore Court but lost to the Titans, Gillingham and Herne Bay.

The Titans beat Gore Court and Crusaders but lost to Gillingham and Herne Bay.

The Leopards had three matches at Sutton Valence and had wins against the host team and Blackheath but suffered a narrow defeat to Tunbridge Wells.

The Lynx team played four matches winning two, drawing one and losing one while the Lions had wins in the three matches they played.

The under-12 boys’ Cougars team went to Herne Bay and enjoyed two wins against Gillingham Giants but also two defeats to Marden Magic.

The Leopards, in the same tournament, lost to Herne Bay Heat and drew with Gillingham Bears and Marden Marvels.

The under-14 girls won their EH Cup tier one match 8-2 against Bromley and Beckenham while the boys’ team also had a win against Bromley and Beckenham in their EH Cup match by a 4-2 scoreline.

The under-14 boys’ developmen­t squad lost 7-1 defeat to East Grinstead.

There was a win for the under-16 girls in the England Hockey Championsh­ip when they beat Bromley and Beckenham 8-0 but they also suffered a defeat to Sevenoaks in the Home Counties League.

The under-18 boys enjoyed a 1-0 win when they travelled to Reading.
