Matt finishes make game of it

Matt Lea scored four times as Canterbury men’s 3rds suffered a narrow defeat at Old Bordenians 2nds in Kent Area Division 1. The 3rds went 5-1 down and fought their way back to 5-4 but couldn’t find the equaliser. They are sixth in the table and travel to Sevenoaks 3rds on Saturday. The 2nds had a 3-2 win in their match with Bromley and Beckenham 2nds in the Higgins London League. They are fourth in the Premier Division table on 31 points, 12 off the top side Hampstead and Westminste­r 2nds. They host Richmond 2nds on Saturday. Canterbury Pilgrims moved up to seventh in Kent/sussex Regional 2 thanks to a 3-1 win against Crawley 1sts. They host Southwick 1sts this weekend. The 4ths slipped behind in their battle to win promotion from Kent Area Division 2 after a 2-1 defeat at home to Gore Court 2nds. They are third in the table and five points off leaders Ashford 2nds. In the same division, the Millers had a 3-1 win at Blackheath and Elthamians 3rds and are seventh in the table. The 5ths stay fifth in Kent Open Premier B after beating leaders Old Bordenian 3rds 3-1 at home. The Griffins extended their lead at the top of Kent Open Premier C after a 2-0 win at Herne Bay men’s 3rds. There was a 4-3 defeat for the Squires in Kent Open Division 1 against Bromley and Beckenham 6ths, which means they drop to seventh. The Friars fell to 10th in Kent Open Division 3 after a 3-2 home defeat at home to Blackheath and Elthamians Highwaymen.
