Lilywhites beaten again

-

Faversham Town suffered defeat in Bostik South after Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to Chipstead.

A goal in each half was enough to consign Town to successive defeats in the league following their 1-0 loss to Corinthian Casuals.

To make matters worse, Faversham had to play most of the second half with only 10 men after goalkeeper Simon Overland was sent off.

Chipstead opened the scoring on 21 minutes when Michael Campbell found the net.

Town could not get themselves back on level terms and went into half-time a goal down.

And things got worse seven minutes after the restart when Overland was shown a straight red.

The keeper came out to challenge a Chipstead forward but brought him down with the referee deeming it worthy of a dismissal.

This made the task of getting back in the game an uphill struggle for Faversham and their defeat was sealed in the 81st minute when Chipstead substitute Jake Robinson slotted past Thomas Benham in the Town goal.

The result leaves the Lilywhites 17th in the table on 36 points. They travel to East Grinstead Town on Saturday.

Herne Bay threw away a goal advantage in their Bostik South match at Hythe Town on Tuesday, losing 2-1.

Jake Embery scored in the sixth minute to put Bay a goal up and in control of the game.

The visitors then dominated large spells of the first half but failed to take advantage of their chances.

Bay were good for their lead going into half-time against a side who are seventh but Kieron Campbell got the equaliser for Hythe after 58 minutes with Zak Ansah completing the comeback 20 minutes later.

Bay dropped to 16th on 42 points and face South Park at home on Saturday.

Herne Bay were also due to play Molesey last Saturday but their match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
