Correspondent: Keith Cox Tel: 01304 244502 Mob: 07719 341361 Tel: 01304 842766 coxk@dovercollege.org.uk Catching lives: Catching Lives at Canterbury East Station is a homeless centre. Something we may not want to think about at Christmas but they help all ages, young and old, people who sleep on the streets with no where to go. Thank you if you have already given items, I will be taking a Christmas donation from Nonington next weekend to Catching Lives. I have tea, coffee, hot chocolate. If you would like to donate biscuits, sweets, powdered milk, soft drink, tins of fruit, soup, dog food etc etc or perhaps wrap a small gift up for either male or female and write on your gift so that a homeless person has a gift on Christmas Day, that would be a thoughtful gesture. You could donate items of clothing such as: warm jumpers, trousers, duvets, hats and gloves. Everything we may take for granted they are grateful for at this charity. Donations can be left at 5 Park View Rise and then will be taken to Dolphins Hall. I know we are all busy and have our own families but in some cases these men, women, teenagers are out in a terrible position, sometimes because of a terrible home life. As a Mum, and a volunteer youth and children’s worker, I think it would be nice to help and send a gift and a card. If you feel the charity may use cash better please feel free to put in a separate envelope and I will deliver it next weekend. Thank you everyone. Happy Christmas and New Year, Pauline. St.mary’s services: There will be a late night Christmas Eve Holy Communion service, starting at 11.30pm, December 24, Christmas Eve, at St. Mary’s. Christmas Day, December 25, Family Service, is at St. Mary’s and begins at 10.30am. All are very welcome to come to either one or both of these lovely Christmas services. Art show 2018: Nonington Art Show 2018. Our grateful thanks to everybody who supported the Art Show in November 23-25, St. Mary’s Church. Special thanks to all those who gave up their time over the weekend to serve refreshments, assist with sales of arts, crafts and cards and everyone who baked and donated cakes etc. Thank you to Janice for organising the refreshments, the rota and the washing up over the three days. Thanks to everybody who visited the Church and bought cards, paintings, photographs, ceramics and woodcraft. There were some beautiful and unique items for sale again this year. Huge thanks too for the untiring support we had with lighting the Church and with setting up and dismantling the display boards. The newly installed lighting, thank you Paul and Philip, made an enormous difference not only to the displayed artwork, but also enhanced the beauty of our ancient Church. Many visitors from outside the village admired the Church and commented on the warm and friendly atmosphere. Finally, thank you to the artists, especially those who live locally who worked so hard to make this year’s show such a success, we had an age range of exhibitors this year from 4-84 years. We raised a total of £1,122, many, many thanks from the Friends of Nonington Church If you have an item concerning Northgate, Canterbury, please contact the correspondent above.
