-

Avariety of one-night performances is set to delight audiences at The Marlowe Theatre this month. With concerts from a Merseyside beat outfit, a group of soul singers and a classical orchestra, there promises to be something to suit every musical taste. First up, on Monday, February 18, is band The Searchers - which is performing a final farewell tour before its members retire. With classic hits such as Sweets for my Sweet, Needles and Pins, Don’t Throw Your Love Away and When You Walk in the Room, the band’s record sales exceed 50 million. This farewell concert will include all their famous songs, as well as anecdotes and reminiscences from their remarkable career. Next to perform is Soul Legends, with special guest Lemar - performing on Tuesday, February 19. The winner of two Brit and three MOBO awards, Lemar has sold more than two million albums and will be taking the audience through his songs including Dance (With You), It’s Not That Easy and The Way Love Goes. The night will include soul anthems such as Respect, Ain’t Nobody, Knock on Wood, River Deep Mountain High, Ain’t No Stopping Us Now and Beat It. For those with a more classical taste in music, the latest concert from The Marlowe’s orchestra in residence - The Philharmonia - is to be performed on Wednesday, February 20. The performance, entitled Gods and Mortals, features Bach and two pieces by Mozart, including his Jupiter symphony.
