Heartbreak as ‘beautiful’ Bonnie killed in train crossing tragedy
Friends of a “beautiful and kindhearted” young woman who died after she was struck by a train have shared heartbreaking tributes to the 28-year-old. Popular Bonnie Yendell, formerly of Canterbury, was tragically killed when she was hit on the level crossing in Monkshill Road, Graveney, on Sunday afternoon.
Floral tributes have since been placed on the crossing, where she died shortly after 2pm. One friend described her as “amazing and unique”.
Others have shared online tributes to Miss Yendell, who just three weeks ago was pictured celebrating her birthday in Jamaica.
Carly-ann Goldfinch posted on Facebook: “I cannot believe I’m writing this, I am absolutely heartbroken.
“You were the craziest, funniest, kind hearted friend I could have ever asked for and we had soo many good times together.
“I’d never met someone as full of life as you and can honestly say I am going to miss you so much love you so much mooeyyyy sleep tight beautiful.”
Another friend on Facebook described Miss Yendell as “beautiful, funny and smart”, telling how her death has “left a massive gap in my heart”.
Miss Yendell had lived in Thanington and on the London Road Estate in Canterbury, before later living for some time in Studd Hill, near Herne Bay.
British Transport Police say Miss Yendell’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman said: “Following a report of a person struck by a train, officers attended along with local emergency services but unfortunately a female was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is currently being treated as non suspicious.”
Police added the woman’s next of kin has been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
