and before that was a councillor in Wincheap.

So, Mr Sole has been a local councillor on two occasions when the football club has been desperately seeking a new home and accordingly was in a position to actually do something about it and give a voice to the football club in their search. Did he? No. Not once was the football club contacted by Mr Sole, which is surprising given he apparently holds such strong views on how shockingly badly we have been treated.

Is Mr Sole standing as a candidate in May’s local election? I ask that as this is exactly the sort of double standards the football club has had to put up with for years and it has to stop.

In my opinion, the local electorate has been seriously let down in the provision of sport and recreational facilities over the years. The CT1 and CT2 postcodes have the lowest football playing youth per capita in the whole of Kent. That is shocking and a direct consequence of not having your senior football club “home”.

Where is the bowling alley, where is the ice rink, where are the facilities to keep our youngsters active and healthy?

Mr Sole might want to reflect on his previous tenures as a councillor before jumping on the sports, health and younger generation agenda, which the football club is now setting and intending to pursue at the May local elections.

As for Quinn Estates, not only have they helped keep the football club going through sponsorship but they have actually spent time, money and effort trying to deliver us a home.

Rather than Mr Sole’s criticism, we should be encouraging developers who do more than just talk but actually do something.
