A mother-of-two is aiming to smash the world record for the biggest ever moving wheelchair line.

Jane Crammond, 52, who has been disabled herself for the past four years, is trying to rally a minimum of 352 people to come together at Canterbury Rugby Club in August to attempt the feat.

The current record, which was achieved in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, USA in May 2015, stands at 351 participants.

Ms Crammond, who lives at Tristford residential home in Folkestone, is hoping to raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

It is a cause she has supported for more than 30 years.

“I try to do something each year for charity,” she explains.

“In the past I’ve done things like fetes, but I wanted to go down a different route this year.

“I had the idea when one day, the song Locomotion came into my head.

“So I then looked up the sitting record for a wheelchair line, and it’s just grown from there.

“There are lots of people who say they want to take part, but it’s also quite a lot of people to get hold of.

“I’m now trying to get the word out there in any way I can.

“It will be a really fun day out, so we want people to come along and help us break a world record.”

The event starts at the club at midday on Saturday, August 17, with the line scheduled to set off at 2pm.

n Anyone who would like to get involved is urged to contact Jane by emailing janecrammond1966@gmail.com.
