Double dose of defeats Bostik round-up Early goal from Kay sets tone for Strike Force

-

Faversham Strike Force extended their undefeated run to five games with a comfortable 4-0 win over Kings Hill in the Kent County League Premier Division. Looking to continue their march towards the upper echelons of the division, and with their ranks increasingly boosted by players returning from injury, the Force started strongly. Within two minutes Joe Kay received a quite brilliant pass from Dave Walsh to chest down calmly onto his left foot and stroke the ball past the keeper. The hosts were playing some nice football and maintaining a high tempo both with and without the ball. It was simply too much for their opponents and man-of-the-match Kay doubled his side’s lead before the interval. The pattern continued in the second half and Strike Force secured a crucial third courtesy of Ali Adam’s header – his 13th It’s been a tough week for Faversham Town who have suffered back-to-back defeats in Bostik South East.

The Lilywhites lost 2- 0 at Haywards Heath on Tuesday night with both goals coming in the final third of the match.

Kieran Rowe opened the scoring on 66 minutes and Heath wrapped up the points two minutes from time through Trevor Mccreadie.

That followed a 2-1 defeat for Phil Miles and Danny Chapman’s side at Hastings on Saturday.

The home side took a 12th- minute lead from the penalty spot. Jordy Mongoy went down easily under Danny Divine’s challenge but the referee decided there was enough contact and Sam Adams sent Will Godmon the wrong way.

It was almost 2- 0 when a header from a corner looped over Godmon but Danny Walder was there to head off the goal line.

Hastings were looking good and when Adams’ pass split the Faversham defence, Godmon did superbly to keep out Mongoy’s low shot with his right foot. But the visitors were level, eight minutes before half-time, when Liam King burst into the box on the right-hand side and lashed a shot high beyond U’s keeper Charlie Horlock.

Dave Cook was denied by a block in the six-yard box and the Lilywhites pushed for a second but Hastings retook the lead on 66 minutes when Daniel Ajakaiye lobbed Godmon from an angle.

The visitors still had their moments, Cook almost connecting with King’s cross from the right, although Godmon was kept busy at the other end too.

Herne Bay ended a run of three straight defeats on Saturday when they beat high- flying Ashford 2-1 at Winch’s Field.

Bay keeper Simon Overland made a string of good saves before Danny Leonard dribbled past three Ashford players and laid on the opener for Brad Schafer. Overland performed more heroics before half-time and when Ronald Sobowale chased down Sam Mott 10 minutes into the second half, he was rewarded with Bay’s second goal.

Jay May pulled a late goal back for Ashford when Overland dropped a cross at his feet but Bay had already done enough to stay three points above bottom side Greenwich
