GOINGOUT YOUR LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT SCENE Festival rocking its Jazz duo’s fundraiser way back to the farm Orchestra at Cathedral

A talented jazz duo will be performing in Adisham on Sunday, March 10 to raise money for the village hall. Saxophonist Ian Miller and pianist Dominic Spencer are coming to the area as part of their Jazz in the Village tour and have already performed at sell out shows and festivals around the country, including the Edinburgh Fringe. Village hall chairman Roger Pring says the proceeds from ticket sales will be divided between the performers and the hall committee to help pay towards the £30,000 needed for a new roof. The duo, who are based in Edinburgh, are renowned for their melodic interpretations of jazz classics as well as their own compositions. The concert starts at 8pm and tickets cost £10 from Roger, who can be contacted on 07782 173776, or Aylesham Pet and Garden Supplies in Market Square. Concert-goers are invited to bring their own refreshments. A popular blues and rock weekend festival is returning to Canterbury this summer.

Blues on the Farm is being held at Woolton Farm in Bekesbourne - the home of Kentish Pip cider.

This is the second annual event - after the inaugural festival was held last year.

The music extravaganza will take place across three days in June, with an array of British and international stars set to perform - including Skinny Molly from Tennessee, who will headline on the Friday.

Featured across the weekend are names such as Climax Blues Band, Dr Feelgood, Nine Below Zero, Maas/moody Band featuring Whitesnake’s Micky Moody, Deborah Bonham and Geno Washington.

The younger generation of rising stars on the blues and rock scene will also be represented by Elles Bailey, Mack and The Mentulls.

A variety of food stalls will cater for all tastes and dietary requirements, alongside two bars offering a wide-ranging selection of award-winning local ales, lagers, cider and sparkling wines.

Blues on the Farm is taking place from Friday, June 14 until Sunday, June 16.

Weekend tickets cost £90 for adults and £35 for children, while day tickets and group tickets are also available.

Camping and “glamping” will be available at the festival for a fee, and parking is free.
