Streatfield’s double sets up Lightning success

Faversham Strike Force

-

Faversham Strike Force’s Kent County League side had a weekend off from their high-flying campaign as the focus turned to the club’s hundreds of youth players.

Sol Streatfield led the charge as he claimed a brace in under-14 Lightning’s 5-0 win over Hawkinge Youth.

In very strong winds, the Force blew hot in each half with further goals coming through Stan Curling, Jack Feaver and man-ofthe-match Thomas Emery whose superb work rate was recognised. A superb 20-yarder from Callum Martin was the highlight for under13 Lightning as they slipped to an 8-3 defeat against table-topping Tankerton.

He later added another goal, while Liam Jameson also scored with a brilliant free-kick. Under-13 Thunder put in a good display at Tyler Hill Youth before a flurry of late goals gave their 6-1 defeat an unfairly one-sided appearance. Jack Swan was his team’s scorer and he picked up player-of-the-match honours along with the ever-positive Sam Curd. Jake Crawley scored four times, including a cracker from outside the area, as under-12 Lightning won 7-0 at Whitfield. Flying winger Gabriel Smith grabbed another two goals, Frank Davison adding one more, while Tom Scamp, Ryan Brown and Elliott Hall were superb in defence. On a day when anyone could have been named top player, Crawley was man of the match. Goals from Archie Reynolds and Jacob Teaney, plus a player-of-thematch performance from Martin Petrov, were the highlights of under-12 Hurricanes’ closelyfought game against Ramsgate. Sammy Laker was solid in goal and lively in attack as he was named man of the match for under-10 Thunder who fought hard but failed to find the net against Deal Town Rangers Colts. There was a hat-trick for Kian Gardner as under-7 Thunder enjoyed a hugely entertaining match at Deal. Ellison Gashi and Tyger Pharoah also found the net for their team.

Under-7 Lightning faced a strong Herne Bay Harriers team and scored twice through their determined striker and man of the match Kingston Pankhurst. Elliott Jones assisted two goals and scored a brace, including a fantastic late free-kick, in a superbly contested match against Herne Bay Wanderers at The Mount.

Reuben Wilkinson also claimed two goals, while Dylan Jones saw a long-range screamer bounce back agonisingly off the inside of the post. Elliott Jones was named best player following a tireless performance.
