Consistenc­y pays off for Oyster men

Wins on five of the six rinks secured the Oyster IBC’S men a 119-107 home victory over Folkestone in the Kent League.

Peter Hogston, Fred Masters, Keith Dellard and Brian Watson (27-10) recorded the biggest victory margin, while Gordon Bourn, John Day, Alan Reid and Phil Scott Martin (20-19) were pushed hardest.

Gordon Hayes, Malcolm Scott, Bob James, David Ferguson got home 23-14 while there were six-shot wins for Maurice Odell, David Appleton, David Turner and Alan Cornfoot (23-17), and Brian Maxted, Eddie Swan, Bernard Woodhams and Ian Burton (17-11).

The Oyster picked up nine valuable league points and are 11th although with games in hand on all but one of the teams above them.

■the ladies beat Stone Lodge 99-86 in the Kent League match in a contest which saw each side win two rinks with the other drawn. Pride of place went to Doreen Masters, Chris Benneworth, Madelene Mcconomy and Sue Swan who handed their opponents a 32-10 defeat.

Debbie Good, Marion Algar, Janet Gray and Janet Drewitt triumphed 20-13 while Joyce Cheyney, Ann Moon, Sue Close and Maggie Dellard drew 19-19 as the Oyster collected 7.5 points. Rink details

■ A friendly against the Metropolit­an Police ended in a 97-65 win for the Oyster for whom there were big wins for Kay Lloyd, Mo Gray, Irene Godfrey and David Turner (30-13), and Tony Clark, Michael Lloyd and Brian Gambrill (25-4). Yvonne Mann, Janet Pamphilon, Peter Mann and Maurice Odell got home 19-12 with the other victorious team being Peter Needham, Ken Shorter, Margaret Morris and Eddie Swan (16-12).
