King’s strike seals victory

Rising Sun beat Crusaders 2-0 away from home in the senior section of the Whitstable Charity Cup on Sunday.

Nathan Eastwood opened the scoring for the away side in the 40th minute before Stuart King ensured Rising Sun would progress to the next round. Wingham also advanced to the next stage of the competitio­n after an excellent 1-0 win away to Premier Division leaders Chislet Colliery.

In the junior section of the Whitstable Charity Cup, Monument Reserves won 4-0 at Woodmans Hall thanks to a brace from James Hart and a goal each for Michael Terry and Craig Dyerson. Elsewhere, Druids ran out 2-1 winners at City Lions, Mike Belsey and Chris Barratt scored the goals for Druids while Nathan Moat got City’s goal.

In the Faversham Charity Cup junior section, Bay United ran out 4-1 winners at Monument A.

Paul Arundel scored the only goal for the home side, as Buddy Rowden, Guy Collis, Mat Beasley and Scott Welch completed the scoring for Bay.

In league action, Monument closed the gap on top-of-thetable Chislet with a 5-0 home win over Littlebour­ne in the Premier Division. Danny Williams was the star of the show netting four times with team-mate David Reed also getting on the score sheet. Tankerton Royals registered a 3-0 win over bottom-ofthe-table Heron Athletic thanks to a Lewis Heard brace and a goal from Jack Thompson.

In Division 1, Herne United maintained their 100% winning record this season with a 5-2 victory over Elephant.

Izy Sargent scored a hattrick with Billy Gambrill and Billy Lewins completing the scoring to keep Herne top of the table. Faversham Strike Force remain in ninth after a 1-1 draw with Sauce FC, Elliott Dowling scored for Strike Force.

In Division 2, The Heron won 4-1 against New Inn Palace who are still without a league win this season. Canterbury Toon won 6-3 at Oyster Boys and Tankerton picked up a 4-2 victory against Dawes Hernhill Herons.

Herne Bay Ladies won 4-0 at home against Eastbourne United in Sunday’s Premier Division game in the South East Counties League.

Bay took the lead in the 45th minute thanks to a Kate Foster penalty after Lillian Tucker was brought down by Eastbourne goalkeeper Jessica Storrie. Four minutes into the second half Abbie Potter doubled Bay’s lead with a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Sophie Gifford made it 3-0 in the 70th minute, before Chloe Woolaway completed the scoring with a cool finish seven minutes later.
