Club full of pride for squad’s determination
Swimming
Congratulations are in order for the 11 youngsters from Faversham Swimming Club who qualified to take part in this year’s ‘Kents’.
For some, it was their first competition at this level and for others who have experienced the excitement before it was a chance to challenge themselves and swim as part of their team. Despite the nerves every swimmer gave their all and made themselves, their parents and their coaches proud. There were club records for Emma Wickes, in the 17+ years 50m breaststroke, Neve Smith, in the 13 years 50m butterfly, Jessica Perkins, in the 11 years 50m backstroke and Emily Holt, in the 17+ years 50m butterfly, while Olly Edwards equalled a previous club record earned by Nathan Williams in the 16 years 50m breaststroke. Perkins swam in eight races, achieving personal best times in five of them, with an impressive ninth place in the 50m backstroke.
Havva Ibrahim showed off her butterfly skills over 100m and 50m, with Timothy Champion following suit in the breaststroke at both distances.
Max and Molly Fordyce both swum breaststroke races with Molly being thrilled to achieve a PB in her race. Isabella Holt also swum in the breaststroke race for the girls’ 14 years 50m.
Olly Edwards demonstrated his skills in both breaststroke and backstroke in the boys’ 16 years 50m and 100m distances and had some fantastic swims in each of his races.
For Timothy Champion, Oliver Bellerby Brown and Havva
Ibrahim it was the first Kents competition and they all showed great determination and focus. All coaches were proud of each and every competitor.
The swimmers showed fantastic team spirit, focus and determination and were a credit to the club throughout the competition.
