Sticking together in strange and worrying times
‘Even the smallest gesture of help means a great deal to those suffering the most’
In times of adversity, we often see our communities at their best.
This has certainly been the case in Kent’s towns and villages, as the coronavirus outbreak tightens its grip on our lives. As more restrictions are imposed on public gatherings and movement, in a necessary bid to prevent the spread of the virus, people are finding themselves increasingly isolated and facing an uncertain time ahead.
Vital and heroic work is being carried out every day by hospital staff and our emergency services, which we should never take for granted.
On top of this, armies of volunteers have sprung up across the county to make sure the more vulnerable in society are cared for and looked after. Even the smallest gesture of help means a great deal to those suffering the most. Of course, a selfish minority will always think the rules do not apply to them and try go about their daily business with little consideration for others. Thankfully they are just that - a minority, who do not reflect the true face of Kent.
While our coverage cannot shy away from the seriousness of the situation we find ourselves in, we have tried to highlight some of the more positive and even lighthearted aspects of these strange and worrying times.
We thank you for sticking with us in the face of such disruption and uncertainty and promise to keep you updated and informed as this crisis unfolds. Take care.
