Hilarious photos snap hungry hounds catching a speedy snack

- By Sean Delaney sdelaney@thekmgroup.co.uk

A photographer’s candid shots of hungry hounds have been going down a treat with pet owners.

Liz Gregg has perfected the technique of capturing the canines at their funniest moment - while catching a tasty snack.

The 47-year-old snapper explains how she tosses a treat in the air and then uses a fast-shutter speed, clicking away to get the perfect shot.

The method has provided reels of hilarious photos to share with owners as part of a new technique Liz calls Snap Catch.

“I throw a treat with my left hand, hold the camera with my right, then snap as the dog catches it,” she says.

“I love bonding with them, playing with them and training them. “Greedy dogs do really well - some dogs are just genius.”

Liz, who lives in Herne Bay, is a successful photographer with a track record of delivering magazine shoots for celebrities and catwalk stars. Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, she had gigs lined up in Las Vegas and was even due to cover the Paralympic Games in Tokyo before they were postponed until next year.

But now the skilled snapper has taken her wideangled lens to new lengths as she toys with a new hobby and future income stream. She came up with the idea after snapping shots of her own pooch before doing shoots for friends.

This proved more popular and she ended up hosting sessions in local pet stores across Kent prior to lockdown.

During this time she snapped everything from golden Labradors to West Highland white terriers. “Sometimes we are just screaming at the joy of it,” she says. “It gets really addictive - you just keep going.”

As social distancing measures are relaxed, Liz is hopeful her pooch photography can soon return. “I’d love to snap a basset hound or a great Dane they have great cheeks,” she adds.
