Knife seized after fight

Police called to a fight in Canterbury were reportedly surrounded by a group of youths after finding themselves outnumbere­d. British Transport Police revealed details of the incident, which happened in Longport just before 8pm on Tuesday, on Twitter. They wrote: “Officers spotted a fight. As they got out to intervene one male threw a bag in a bush in an attempt to hide it, he was searched and found in possession of the knife. “Officers were then outnumbere­d by the group of youths who surrounded them and had to call for assistance.”

A boy, 17, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody.
