Dartford was home to the highest number of affordable house constructions from April 2018 to April 2019, with 304, which accounted for 50% of all new builds across the district.
A large swathe of lowcost housing was also built in Tonbridge and Malling, Sevenoaks and Maidstone. However, in Thanet, one of the poorest areas in the county, just 1.5% of all homes constructed in the corresponding period - 11 out of 296 - were affordable. In Medway, around 16% of 649 homes built in that period - 167 in total - were low cost. Nationally, the Government has committed to the delivery of one million homes by the end of this year, with 500,000 more by the end of 2022.
