Byron Gould scored a double century for Whitstable in their 316-run victory over Walmer in Division 2 of the East Kent NHS Heroes League.

Gould retired not out on 201 after a 241-run secondwicket partnership with Elliot Lewis, who hit a ton himself, as Walmer’s bowlers were hit to all parts.

Harrison Legg (41) had earlier shared a 113-run opening wicket stand. Whitstable ended on 413-4 and then bowled Walmer out for 97.

Liam Milroy (30) and Thomas Mitchell (39 not out) showed some defiance but it was a losing battle. Albi Maddison picked up four wickets while Nathan Ingleston conceded just seven runs off is five overs.

Jarryd Taid hit a magnificent 122 as Canterbury beat Folkestone in Division 1. Canterbury were chasing 226 for victory after restricting Folkestone to 225-7 and they got home with two overs remaining, Taig’s unbeaten century guiding them home. Folkestone’s leading scorers were Stuart Graham (42) and Sam Ireland (41 not out). Broadstairs eased to a 121run victory over Sandwich 2nds to consolidate second place in the East Kent NHS Heroes League Division 2. It’s their final game in the summer’s friendly league as this weekend’s scheduled fixture with Chestfield has been cancelled due to the club’s highly anticipated Kent Cricket League T20 semifinal against Tunbridge Wells. The youthful opening partnership of Tom Marshall (20) and Nathan Fox (67) got the innings off to a solid start on Saturday and additional runs from George Kidd (49) and Matt Frewin (32) helped the visitors reach 222-7. The Sandwich reply lasted just 28 overs with the home side all out for 101. Broadstairs’ Sunday side enjoyed a 136-run friendly victory over Herne thanks largely to an unbeaten

116 from Kidd and Joshua Marshall’s 65 not out.

In the Division 3 knockout semi-final, Canterbury 2nds narrowly beat St Lawrence & Highland Court 2nds (254-5) by 10 runs. Aaron Hopkins (103) hit his second century of the summer while Russell Griffiths contributed 46. In reply, St Lawrence opening pair Fred Sharp (87) and Josh Baker (61) got them off to a good start but Jamie Mcvittie (2-28) claimed both wickets.

Ash beat Whitstable 2nds in the other semi-final by two wickets. Whitstable’s Andrew Bennett scored a halfcentury in their 176 total but Tom Laslett’s 52 helped see Ash home.
