Thankful for town’s support
On behalf of the League of Friends of the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital, Herne Bay, I would like to express our immense gratitude to the
residents of the town for their unfailing support in so many ways over our 70 years existence. Together we have participated in many battles and I am sure that showing how much everyone cared has resulted in our retaining our hospital and expanding the fantastic healthcare services that are now being provided on our site. Over the years the League has raised a considerable amount of money which has enabled us to improve the buildings and to provide the most up to date X-ray department, together with supporting the various clinics and now culminating in the Herne Bay Health Care building with its Urgent Treatment Centre.
The League donated over £100,000 to enable work on this project to be carried out which has rejuvenated the redundant orthotics building.
2020 has been a very different and worrying year for all of us. Sadly we even had to cancel our annual fete held in the hospital grounds when we look forward to meeting our friends.
But we are ending our year on a most positive note with our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated doctors and their teams for organising the roll-out of the new vaccine on our site. Perhaps we can now look forward cautiously to 2021. Gillian Fowler, chairman
