Jamie White lost his ball with his first shot but still scored a gross 78 (net 64) to win the Style Cup at Canterbury Golf Club.

White, who made an eagle with his second ball at the first, won by two shots from Thomas Bertaux, who held off plus one player Levi Johnson and fourth-placed Bob Danton on countback. Bertaux, who won Division Two, took second place overall from Division One winner Levi, who mixed five birdies and three bogeys in a superb gross 65.

White was victorious in the RNLI October Medal after running up an eight at the first, including a greenside air shot, and said: “There must be something about that hole. When I have a strange first hole I seem to go on and play well.”

Rupert Chitty ran up a triple bogey at the 13th and a double at the fifth but still scored a gross 77 (net 67) to win Thursday’s Men’s Medal, for his first victory in almost two years.

Claire Wilson was the overall winner of the Ladies’ Spring Meeting on Wednesday with 35 Stableford points.

Wilson scored an impressive 21 points with four pars, before the turn to set up her win. Heather Hardy made 32 points to take second place, one ahead of Sheelagh Smith. Chris Fuller was thanking a painful shoulder injury for slowing his swing down as the key to his first Canterbury competition win, in Monday’s Seniors’ Stableford. Fuller scored comfortably his best competitive round at Scotland Hills, a gross 88 for 34 Stableford points, to win by one overall from Ken West over the 17 open holes. Fuller said: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits. I normally just collapse on the back nine, or the back eight, but this time it stayed together.

“I’ve had a left shoulder problem recently, it’s really been giving me some trouble but it’s really sorted out my swing, slowed it down. There’s nothing jerky in it because a jerky swing hurts.” Georgina Carlotti, 11, scored her first individual win in Sunday’s Juniors’ Redpath Trophy, from a field of seven. Georgina scored a gross 102 (net 65), her best competition round by six shots, to win on countback from Matthew Jones and Amos Brazier.
