Canterbury men’s Friars beat Holcombe Heroes for the second successive week as they claimed a 7-2 victory. Holcombe took an early lead when their centre-forward scored from a rebound but Canterbury led 4-1 at halftime before adding another three goals. They had won 9-0 the previous week. Four-goal Jonny Devereux was man-of-the-match, with John Aikin (2) and Pete Ratcliff also scoring. Their men’s 2nds won 5-3 at home to Horsham. Hat-trick hero Jamie Millerhast­ings was man-of-thematch while Andrew Dunn and Chris Slade also scored. The Pilgrims, though, lost 9-1 away to Gore Court 1sts. Glenn Prebble scored for Canterbury while Seth Coode was man-of-the-match. The ladies’ 2nds were beaten 2-0 at London Wayfarers. Canterbury’s ladies’ 5ths also lost, going down to a 3-1 defeat to Marden.

But their men’s 4ths won 5-1 against Maidstone 2nds. Alan Carter ended his twoyear goal drought, with Ali Scott-kilvert (2), Josh Kitson and Ben Cotton also scoring. Hugo Corteen-coleman was man-of-the-match. Canterbury ladies’ 1sts lost 4-0 to Surbiton 2nds but the ladies 3rds beat Burnt Ash 4-0 at home. Two-goal Natalie Goldring was player-of-the-match while Rachel van de Merwe and Cara Brogan-jones scored too.

For the juniors, Canterbury under-16 girls’ B team won 5-0 away at Burnt Ash. There was amazing play up front by Aaliyah Key and Miriam Thorpe, Key hitting the backboard twice and Thorpe scoring a hat-trick. The under-16s girls’ A team went to play Marden with just 11 players available but, neverthele­ss, earned a 6-0 success.
