Canterbury’s Mike Cunningham won the Kent Veterans’ League Singles Championsh­ip from a field of 43 at Scotland Hills on Friday.

Cunningham claimed the most prestigiou­s trophy of his golfing career after racking up 38 points from a gross 77, net 69, to win by one from Dave Vidgen from Bearsted Golf Club.

Langley Park’s David Peach scored 36 points for third on countback from Clive Edwards of Nizels.

Cunningham said: ‘’I’m happy but I’m surprised - you wouldn’t have thought that 38 points was enough to win it. But, obviously, I’m very pleased and it’s good for the club.”

Canterbury have been promoted from Division 2 of the Invicta League despite suffering a rare defeat under new captain Brandon Ware when they lost 3.5-1.5 at Kings Hill on Saturday.

Prince’s won the league after demolishin­g Chartham Park 4.5.5. Ware’s half meant he went unbeaten all season.

At Kings Hill, Canterbury’s Scott Williams and Ben Dancer lost 2&1 and Steve Eeles and Owen Fagg went down 3&2, despite Fagg scoring one over par gross.

Ware and Andrew Brockman halved, Waldermar Kalinowski and Marcus Rabenda lost 3&2 but final pairing Mark Lambton and Chris Sherwood shot a combined one under par gross to win 3&2.

Canterbury’s Richard Wallis scored 44 Stableford points to win Saturday’s Littleston­e Pro-am by three from a 27-strong field. Wallis scored a seven under par gross 29 on the front nine with five birdies and an eagle at the 5th.

Paul Newbury scored 39 points to take Thursday’s Men’s Midweek Stableford on countback from Ian Munday.

Munday made up for it by scoring 40 points to win Monday’s Seniors’ Stableford by two from Malcolm Blease.

Caroline Collins scored a gross

86 for a combined total of 172 from the Summer and Autumn meetings to win the Mary Edmondson Scratch Salver.

Val Lucas added a net 73 to her Summer Rose Bowl Meeting score of 69 to win the Ethel Brook Cup for best combined net score of 142.

Ali Kingston totalled a gross 76, net 71, to win the Autumn Meeting overall by one from Heather Hardy, who scored a gross 94.

Lucas won the Ethel Brook Cup by nine from Sue Jones 78,73,151.

Barbara Plews won Sunday’s Ladies’ Margaret Vernon Cup, scoring 40 Stableford points to win by three from Jacklyn Barons.

Claudia Carlotti survived “a bit of a nightmare eight” on the 15th to win the Canterbury Junior Robinson Cup on Sunday.

On Saturday, Carlotti teamed up with Amos Brazier to finish second on countback in the Kent Golf mixed juniors Joan Piper Greensomes at Faversham GC.

They scored 40 Stableford points to finish three behind the winners.

Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club annual finals weekend saw Captain’s Prize glory for Ronnie Rumball over 36 holes.

The ladies’ Seasalter Cup was close, Fran Hollingsbe­e beating Louise Tucker on the 19th.

In the Veterans, Brian Beckley won 5&4 against Neil Bennett, but James Bennett won the Seasalter Cup, holing a monster putt on the 18th to defeat Graham Williams.

The Clarke Cup featured two father-and-son pairings, Brinley Foster with father Lloyd beating James and Neil Bennett 5&4.

In the Jubilee Rosebowl, Tucker and Sheila Wyles beat Sue Hope and Carol Doghan 2&1.

Sheila did the double with husband Mick in the Klein Cup.

The Stanley Cup saw Doghan and John Wegner edge Maureen Davison and John Clarke.
