‘I appreciate sex offenders have to live somewhere, but next to a kids’ playground?’
A twisted nurse dubbed the Canterbury Cannibal is now living just metres from a children’s play park following his early release from prison, it has emerged.
Dale Bolinger, who previously lived in the city and worked at the QEQM Hospital in Margate, was jailed for nine years in 2014 after he plotted to rape, behead and eat a child.
But the 65-year-old was granted an early release for good behaviour after just 36 months behind bars.
The deviant, formerly of Davidson Road, Canterbury, later moved to America – where journalists recently tracked him down to Lincoln, Nebraska.
He now lives with a convicted sex offender in a property said to be yards away from a playground.
Speaking to The Mirror, a dadof-two who lives near the pair said: “This creeps me out.
“I appreciate sex offenders have to live somewhere, but next to a kids’ playground?”
In 2012, Bolinger indulged in disturbing chats on the Dark Web with someone he believed was a 14-year-old schoolgirl in
an attempt to lure her to his city home.
The then-married dad – who kept his revolting desires a secret from his wife – discussed beheading his victim, before eating her.
He even bought an axe the day before he was due to meet the girl at Ashford railway station – and then went to wait for the train to arrive.
Bolinger was arrested the following
year during an FBI investigation in America into internet chats about rape, murder and cannibalism.
His email address – meatmarketman@rocketmail.com – was one of those probed by police and found on a website called Dark Fetish Network.
It was there Bolinger began chatlogs with a number of people interested in the sinister world of rape, slavery and cannibalism.
Before his trial in 2014, he had already pleaded guilty to an offence of administering a poison or noxious substance “with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy” a woman in July 2, 2010.
The offence involved him putting a cloth soaked in dry cleaning fluid over a former colleague’s mouth in what police believe was a botched attempt to sexually assault her.
A jury at Canterbury Crown Court was told by a psychiatrist that Bolinger, an American citizen, was not suffering from mental illness and would probably continue to have warped fantasies regardless of his punishment.
As she sentenced Bolinger to nine years in prison, Judge Adele Williams told him: “You lack any insight into your behaviour and fail to understand that right-minded people will find your behaviour abhorrent, shocking, repulsive and dangerous; dangerous because, by talking about these activities, there is always the risk that your fantasies will tip over into actions.”
When asked by The Mirror if he wanted to say sorry for his crimes in Britain, Bolinger said: “**** off and die.”
Asked if he had any remorse, he added “loads”.
Following his early release in 2017, Bolinger started living in Blair, Nebraska.
But after residents got wind of his presence, he was taken into custody at Washington County jail. It was believed the move was for his own safety amid fears of vigilante attacks.
Bolinger was later transferred to a “sex offender treatment centre” and was reportedly released earlier this month.
