Neal makes win certain
Canterbury ladies’ 1sts beat Isca 3-1 in Women’s Division 1 South on Saturday.
They went ahead when Alice Brett expertly slotted past the Isca keeper.
But the visitors quickly retaliated with a penalty-corner deflection in the sixth minute.
After corners at both ends, Canterbury successfully scored their second with a hit from Madi Upton deflected in by Chloe Plumb.
Victory was sealed with a final penalty-corner goal, Lizzie Neal grabbing the rebound after a Mel Clewlow smash.
The result moves Canterbury up to seventh. Their player-ofthe-match was Lizzie Jenkins.
The 4ths were beaten 5-1 by Blackheath & Elthamians 3rds in South East Division 2 Invicta.
Jess Mccully scored for Canterbury while Anna Mccabe was named their player-of-thematch as they sit eighth in the table.
Canterbury 5ths won 1-0 against Deal 1sts in SE Division 3 Invicta.
Gill Prince, who shared the player-of-the-match award with birthday girl Gabs Scott-kilvert, scored against the secondbottom side to leave Canterbury in seventh.
The over-45s’ ladies headed to Marden with the bare 11 on Sunday but won 3-0 to progress into the second round of the Masters Cup.

The men’s Friars earned a 2-0 success against Folkestone Optimist 7ths in SE Division 8 Invicta and remain second, three points behind the leaders.
Tony Jones and John Aikin struck for Canterbury whose man-of-the-match was Jamie Harris.
The club’s President’s Day tournament returns on Sunday, November 14.
Players in Year 2 through to Year 7 are invited to take part in the fun event, when all players compete for the Kent College Cup.
Games start at approximately 9am and finish by 11.30am.

Canterbury under-18s girls’ team travelled to East Grinstead on Sunday for a plate competition round-one match which saw them win 7-0.
Chloe Plumb (4) and Lily Beer (3) got the goals, but the playerof-the-match award was shared by Sofia Bashir and Beer.
Canterbury under-16s boys’ B team were back in action with an England Hockey Plate competition match which saw them beat Holcombe 3-1.
Jack Parker was named their player-of-the-match for a calm and disciplined performance in the centre of defence.
