Spirited Strike Force find the going tough

FAVERSHAM STRIKE FORCE

Faversham Strike Force under12 Thunder deserved more from their match at Eastry Ravens when they slipped to a 5-2 defeat.

On a difficult pitch, Riley Scamp scored from a Will Jones assist before turning provider for Samuel Lilley, as Archie Johnson was named player-of-the-match.

The under-11 Lightning put in their best performanc­e for a while and benefited from player-of-the-match Roman Lee’s four-goal blitz against St Margaret’s.

Reggie Hughes and Harry Wilson also found the net. Under-10 Thunder travelled to face Herne Bay Harriers Colts and enjoyed a highly competitiv­e and evenly-contested match.

Their goals came from Seth Cornish and Ronnie Booth, with Harry Peters proving a defensive rock for his side. There was an end-to-end Strike Force derby between the under-10 Lionesses and Pumas. Kiera O’donoghue and Annabel Boshier were named top players on the day for their respective teams. Under-9 Thunder battled hard in a thrilling match with Rising Stars Colts.

Zak Ellis was brilliant in defence, while Zach Loung claimed a crucial brace. There was some great passing football by the under-9 Lightning side in their game against Hythe Town. Riley Hawkins hit the net, and there was an own goal, with allaction Archie Collins named player-of-the-match.

CANTERBURY EAGLES

Sylvie Brown got her first goal for Canterbury Eagles under-14s as they recorded an away win on Sunday against Woodcoombe in the Kent Girls League.

Brown grabbed the only goal when she collected the ball on the right and made a superb penetratin­g run before unleashing a shot which found the bottom left-hand corner. Both teams had chances after that in an evenly-contested match but failed to find the net, with Eagles goalkeeper Gemma Fox giving a commanding performanc­e. Defender Skye Cage received the player-of-the-match award for a battling display, while Brown picked up the player contributi­on award.
