Debbie’s magic trick
Faversham Strike Force Women climbed a place to fourth in the South East Counties Kent Division 1 East table after a 6-2 victory over Ramsgate. A hat-trick from Debbie Burgess, Jade Childs’ brace and a further goal by Kim Bolden secured the points, while goalkeeper Grace Paget won their player-of-the-match award. Under-13 Lightning recovered from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3 at Mersham. Player-of-the-match Argjend Nimanaj’s brace put them back on terms before Harry Baldwin volleyed in and Oliver Jobe added a penalty.
Will Jones struck from a Jack Wyles assist for the 10th time this season - tapping home from a corner - as under-13 Thunder secured a 1-1 draw with Herne Bay Harriers. Defender Frankie Smith was named top player on the day. Under-11 Thunder put in a strong all-round performance at home to Tankerton, with Ronnie Booth, Samuel Moffett and Ethan Gilbert on target. Alfie Brabon was named player-of-the-week for a fine display in goal. Player-of-the-match Sid Biscoe was in electric form for under-11 Hurricanes at Ramsgate Black as his team dominated but could not find the net.
There was an under-10s Strike Force derby, which saw Thunder face Hurricanes. Hat-trick hero Jack Hancock and fellow scorer Patrick Shannon shared playerof-the-match honours. Under-8 Hurricanes also travelled to Ramsgate with a bare-bones squad of only five players - but still put in a great team performance. Teddy Layzell bagged a hattrick and captain Carrick Smith added two more goals. Playerof-the-match was awarded to goalkeeper Ollie Walsh. Another stopper, Eddie Machin, was named top player for under-7 Thunder against Hernhill Herons.
He also scored a brace during a stint on pitch - Arthur Haigh claimed a further quartet of goals, with Jett Chandler and William Filmer adding one each. Ethan Purcell scored once for under-7 Hurricanes against Herne Bay Harriers Predators and then put in a fine performance in goal to win the player-of-the-match award. Felix Redman also registered with a fine strike.
Herne Bay Harriers under-10s returned to league action at Chartham Sports Club Colts. They started brightly and netted through new signing Jack Iddenden, cutting in from the wing to score a fine goal. Their second came through midfielder Barnaby Powellleader, assisted by captain Hugo Bousfield.
Chartham held firm through a superb goalkeeping display and they caught the Harriers twice on the break to level.
In the dying minutes, however, Bousfield drove into the box and picked out a late run from Powell-leader who slotted home. Player-of-the-match went to Bousfield for his relentless running which helped earn two assists.
