Golf coach Danny has got worldwide appeal

-

A golfing magazine has ranked Canterbury’s “shocked” former head professional Danny Maude 51st on their list of the 100 most influential people in world golf, writes Steve Acteson.

Maude runs and fronts a highly successful Youtube coaching video site which now has more than 900,000 subscribers and has been named as the No.1 golf coaching channel in the world.

He was amazed to even be on the top 100 list by Today’s Golfer and was only 50 places behind 15-time major title winner Tiger Woods, who topped it, after only starting up his Youtube business with wife Laura three years ago. Danny, who lives in Canterbury, said: “We closed the door to the pro shop at Canterbury on January 31, 2020, right at the start of Covid.

“It was very, very nerveracking to have to build up a brand new business from scratch so, to get from there to where we are now, is incredibly satisfying.

“To be on any list with Tiger Woods on it is, obviously, bizarre and pretty amazing! I was just happy to be included. “Considering where we were just a couple of years ago, it’s ridiculous, really. I’m shocked. “It’s life-changing, that’s for sure. It’s opened up so many doors.

“We’re just about to film something with Sir Nick Faldo, I was out in Los Angeles in January and we filmed a video with the world long-drive champion Martin Borgmeier and we’re going to be doing something with the former special forces guy Jason Fox who did Celebrity SAS on TV. “We’ve got some of the biggest names in golf lined up.”

The magazine article said: “Maude doesn’t get the attention that some other Youtubers receive, perhaps because he doesn’t produce challenges or course vlogs

– but his content is of the highest quality and will do wonders for your game. “He’s built a reputation for providing simple, easy-toimplement golf advice and has amassed a following of more than one million golfers around the world thanks to his methods, which he says can improve any golfer, no matter their age, ability or time constraints.
