I USED to think that I had the full collection of Veronica Lamond’s Landybooks but then Daddy [Patrick to you] came home with her two new books. I was so excited that story time couldn’t wait until after my bath. The story is all about how Jack uses Landy to help Florrie remove a fallen tree off her house before going on to help with the apple harvest. I like how Veronica has shown us several other Land Rovers in the story. This includes a red Ninety pick-up, a cherry picker Defender busy fixing the cable and then a Series III watching on as Landy pulls the tree off Florrie’s house. In fact, there are a
RATING: WHAT A great Land Rover Fender is, working hard for the greater good of others. Dan and Fender start the day repairing a coastal path that crumbled away during a storm, when they witness a helicopter picking up a girl on the beach below who nearly drowned. Then Dan and Annie go for a ride along the coast. They go up a hill, down a steep slope and through a stream. They stop on top of a cliff to look at some puffins. Jack and Katy are standing on an opposite cliff and they are not happy because Molly, their dog has fallen off the edge of the cliff. Once again Fender goes to the rescue. Dan uses his climbing gear and winch, which he fastens to Fender, to get down to Molly. Fender then gives them all a lift to the car park where Molly and Jack are united with Landy once again. Veronica really knows her Land Rovers.
RATING: few pages in the book where you can see all three Land Rovers. The only thing that I don’t like is cheeky red pick-up who always seems to know better than Landy or Fender. Mummy recently took me to a working farm so I was able to identify all the animals in the book. Landy works really hard during the harvest and when getting ready for the party. I don’t want to spoil the ending for those yet to read the book but I like how Ellie and Poppy slept in the back of the Landy. Hopefully, I will be able to camp out in the back of a Land Rover soon. This is now my new favourite Landybook.
